Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History in Rome offers Pre­doc­toral and Postdoctoral Fellowships for the calendar year 2020 in the department of Prof. Dr. Tristan Weddigen. Under the general theme, Art of the Modern Age in a Global Con­text, the department welcomes projects in — but not necessarily limited to — one of its core research areas: Rome Contemporary, Materiality and Mediality, Italy in a Global Context, Transnational History of Art History, and Digital Visual Studies. The depart­ment’s website provides further information on these research areas.

Candidates should propose a funding period of six to twelve months within the calen­dar year. Successful candidates will be expected to be part of a group of young scho­lars focused on one of the five topics and participate in the institute’s activities.
